Nike Skate boarding, wich is also known as Nike SB, is the Nike brand for its line of shoes, clothing, and equipment for skate boarding. Skateboarding becomes popular in the 1990s, leading to improvements in skate shoes. Loud, blocky skate shoes appear to no longer welcomed as the hip-hop culture of the 1990s eventually not survived. In the late 1990s, Nike begun to experiment with the market by reissuing older models. In 2002, after failing to gain share in the skateboard market, Nike came out with the SB brand for skate boarding. Nike SB released Nike SB Dunk Lows with padding tongues and collars with the "Zoom Air" insoles to attract skateboarders to shoes similar to the padding in DC Shoes and nike blazers Vans. After the Dunks did not sell well, they released four other models. The Nike SB Angus, Nike SB FC, Nike nike blazers women SB Delta Force, and Nike SB URL. In 2004, Nike SB decided it was time to put a face to their company. They signed Paul Rodriguez to provide credibility for the brand, while making limited release shoes in partnership with Slam City Skates and Supreme. In March of 2004 Nike released the Nike Dunk SB collection, due to the increased popularity of skate boarding in Califoia. Prior to the original Nike SB line, the Nike Dunk SB collection made a variety of changes designed specially for skateboarding. The collection included increased padding, center low gravity, and Zoom Air insoles. Due to the function of skateboarding shoes the material quality was increased, including double stitching which is the standard used for skateboarding shoes. In 2005, Nike SB gave Paul Rodriguez their own pro model shoe named the Nike SB John Rodriguez Zoom Air Low. That year, one of Nike SB's spokespersons, Lance Mountain, decided to release the Nike Blazer SB, a version of the Nike Blazer basketball shoe from the early 1970s. They named it the Nike SB Blazer and added a few new features such as the padded receiver collar and "Zoom Air" insoles. Lance Mountain rode for Adidas in 2005 and joined Nike SB in 2007. In addition to yearly releases, a variety of special edition Nike Dunks SB have been featured.
The Nike Dunk SB Low Pro SB Tiffany was released in 2005 and was the main Team Manager Series. As one nike blazers sale of the most popular and anticipated of the collection, demand exceeded supply. Because of this the Nike Dunk SB Low Pro SB Tiffany remain a hot commodity and difficult to get. Nike SB released their first video entitled "Nothing But the Truth" in 2007. The video consisted of all the Nike SB Pros, Ams and some of the Flow cyclists. In 2009, Nike SB gave rider Stefan Janoski their own pro model (aptly named the Zoom Stefan Janoski SB), and signed Eric Koston who had earlier in the year left Lakai Footwear. In addition, a video featuring the Nike SB Amateur team was released later in the year. Nike SB sponsors pro skaters such as Theotis Beasley, Lewis Maell, Lance Mountain, and Omar Salazar.
